52 Pix - Week 12

This was my favorite pic from Week 12. These are Mulligan's friends - Cooper in the back and Phelps in the foreground. Cooper is about Mully's age and belongs to our friends Linds & Scotty. He is a sweet and well-behaved Golden. Phelps is about 3 years old - his parents are Taylor & Sal. He actually just got a sweet tribute from his momma the other day - you can read about it here. Phelps & Mully get along great because they have loads of energy....Phelps also has a sweet vertical.

Anyways, the picture was taken at the lake last week and I took several of the dogs...you can see more below. So fun to have little buddies like Cooper, Phelps & Mulligan. :)

Cookbook Challenge

This month I decided to cook another recipe out of the Merrymakers cookbook from my Mama's church. I was looking for a different way to prepare pork chops (I usually BBQ them) and found a pork chop casserole recipe that I decided to give a try. John Neal doesn't love casserole's so I have to be strategic on when and what I cook in a casserole form. (Luckily, he gave this one a good report!) It required some hands on time but most of the time was spent in the oven so I would classify this as a good weeknight dinner. If you like rice, pork chops and casseroles - this one's for you!

Ingredients:

6 boneless pork chops

1/2 c. rice (uncooked)

1 can cream of mushroom soup

1 soup can of water

1 chopped onion

Salt & Pepper to taste

(not listed but will be used flour & oil)

1. Heat a little oil in skillet over medium. Salt & pepper the pork chops, then lightly coat in flour. Add the pork chops to the skillet and brown on both sides.

2. Remove pork chops from skillet and add onions to hot oil - brown. Meanwhile heat can of soup and water in saucepan.

3. Put pork chops in casserole dish, top with onions & rice then pour soup mixture over it.

Cover & Cook in a 350 degree oven for about 45 minutes.

52 Pix - Week 10

Little Reese! I feel like I posted some pics from my little shoot with her - but as I went through the recent blogs I evidently did not. Heather & I babysat Reese while Holly & Ryan took Hadley to the circus - what a fun time we had. She is the smiliest little thing...I was on the phone with Holly the other day and she was making so many sounds in the background. It's hard to believe she is already eight months old. She'll be talking before we know it. :)

Baby on Board!

Our friends, Taylor & Sal, are expecting their first child - a baby girl! - in just a few weeks. I was lucky enough to be able to snap a few photos of these two (and the baby on board!) recently. Sal might be the cutest thing with her precious baby bump.

It was so sweet to see the two of them so thankful and excited about their upcoming arrival.

She already has some little boots! :)

Aren't they too cute? They're going to make the sweetest parents too!

It was so much fun to spend an afternoon with these guys just taking pictures to remember this time in their lives...and I love to think that there is more fun to come with baby girl almost here! Thank you to the Stanfill's - love you guys.

Charleston Weekend

We're at that stage where many fellow twenty-somethings are making the blissful leap into marriage. One of the coolest things to me has been watching how each bride and groom plan their dream day in such different fashions, tastes and varieties. I was thinking as we attended a wedding this past weekend in Charleston how incredible the whole event was, and as I was thinking back to our wedding, my sisters' weddings, and my friends - they've all had different themes and feels but they have all been so perfect in their own way. I love that. Here are some pics from the weekend - it was such a fun time!

When we arrived we had a "Wedding Welcome" package from the bride & groom. I know this is typical for destination weddings and out of town guests, but I thought they did such a cute job of putting this together. The groom is from Atlanta, the bride from Kentucky and they met at Vanderbilt. It was a box full of items based on these locations (Coke, Kentucky chocolate bourbon balls, Vanderbilt mints, a Kentucky brewed beer, personalized water bottles, pralines from Charleston, Georgia Peanuts, and more!) Just thought it was a neat personalized touch :)

On Friday night we went to the rehearsal dinner at Lowndes Grove Plantation and it was BEAUTIFUL. Literally one of those settings that pictures absolutely do not do justice. And believe me, I tried. I was the creep walking around taking pictures while other people were doing the normal thing and socializing. (Sometimes I struggle with trying to document and savor the moments then I miss out on actually living them....I'm working on that.)
Above - With Tim & Laura (Laura's brother, Brian, was the groom)
Below - The view from the house/tent towards the water. The lighting was so pretty and the lanterns gave it such a cozy feel.

One of the fun things about destination weddings is the actual wedding is the grand finale from a weekend of events. It still was individually separate and special, but it was fun that we had been hanging out with the same people for two nights so it was less catching up and more relaxing and enjoyable. The wedding ceremony was held in the French Hugenot Church in historic Charleston - it was a really cool church with so much detail and charm. Here are the front doors. :)

I was playing in Photoshop and discovered the "Colored Pencil" technique - it's sort of out there, but I liked it. With the below setting of the church, fence and background buildings, it gave it an interesting tone. Do you like it?

The reception was at the William Aiken House. I took pictures of it before the actual wedding when I made JNS drive me to a cupcake store (a store uniquely named Cupcake). Quick tangent - this cupcake store is dynamite. We have been to Charleston 3 times since we've been married and JNS has been for work - we'll just say we come here everytime we're here and he has brought me back a cupcake from work trips. Yes, it's that good (the cupcakes have tons of icing!) - End tangent. So the reception was beautiful - if you want to picture it, think Great Gatsby. I'm aware that was a book and we could all picture it differently, but how I imagined the parties to look was how this reception was...big trees, tents, pretty lighting, food & drinks circulating, big historic house and lots of dancing (the oldies kind).

Aside from the wedding festivities, JNS and I had a great time just walking around, enjoying the city, and eating great food. If we lived there we would be ginormous...between the crab cakes, shrimp & grits, fried green tomatoes and pralines....mmmm, I would be huge. One of our favorite meals was at the below restauant: 82 Queen (their address). We sat on the patio/courtyard and it would definitely be a place to return!
I was in paradise with all the picture-taking opportunities. I've already included a silly amount of pictures in this post so I'll limit myself to one more.... I loved walking down the side streets so much - looking at the houses, cobblestone roads, old doors, detailed buildings, strolling around the Battery, and just taking in the history and charm of Charleston. With all the time outside and the sunny weather, it made me so excited for spring to get here!
Enjoy your weekend! :)

Just for Giggles...

Last week I attended my very first art class at a cute little place called Just for Giggles in Alpharetta. (It's similar to Sips & Strokes and Cocktails & Canvas if you've seen those...) I saw it on Groupon several months ago and me, Amy & Emily (my friends from work) decided it would make a perfect girls night! We've worked together for several years and they truly are more like friends than co-workers! It was so nice to get to just hang out in a non-work setting, chat & do something new :)
At the beginning of the class, we were given a choice of colors for our "palette" and then got to work!

Here we are with our finished projects from the "Initially Yours" project night. If you're looking for a fun activity - this is certain to be a hit!

52 Pix - Week 9

This week's pic comes from our weekend trip to Charleston. There will be another post later about the wedding and all the fun...but for now, here is one of my favorite shots from the weekend.

The rehearsal dinner was held on a beautiful plantation and there were TONS of these candle/lanterns hanging from the trees - it was an incredible sight!

52 Pix - Week 8

This week's pic is simply an image that captures how wonderful this weather has been! Between trips to the dog park, driving with the windows down, going on walks - it's all been so pleasant...if only it would stay this way! Mully loves the warm sunny weather too. :)
